The Beachcomber Motel & Apartments located at 158 W. Spring Street in Port Austin is under new ownership. As of June 12, 2015 the Babcock/Meeks family has the privilege of re-establishing the motel, an opportunity of RE-BIRTH that they are proud and excited about. Prior owners include Clarence and Flossie Ruth, who then passed the torch to Chuck and Amy Ruth. Throughout the Ruth family ownership they strived to deliver memorable experiences to their guests. The new owners, Gary and Lori Babcock, Jeff and Amy Babcock and Glenn and Jill (Babcock) Meeks, all look forward to building on the prior success of the Ruth family.
The motel boasts a private sugar sand beach located less than a 2 block walk from the state boat dock and downtown shopping. The Beachcomber is perfectly positioned next to the breakwall and Waterfront/Veteran’s Park, an area which is used in a multitude of ways. There is a playground for the kids, pavilion area for large gatherings or a nice meal, military memorial, and benches to stop and enjoy the view. If you enjoy kayaking this is the place for you! Launch your own or rent from Port Austin Kayak just down Spring Street.
On the grounds of the Beachcomber is an in-ground swimming pool and plenty of room for outdoor games and to BBQ.
